For women, a job is often more than just something you do in order to make money. A job is a chance to do something challenging, rewarding, and a way to give back. It can make the “job” feel like something so much more than just work. If you’ve been searching for a career that allows you to give back, then here are some options worth considering.

Social Work – Helping Those Who Need It

Social work careers are a wonderful way to feel as though you are giving back to society. You can even take it further and looking into social work with seniors, which is set to be a high demand area over the coming years. The baby boomers are approaching their senior years, and with that they will need plenty of help.
You'll need to have excellent communication and organizational skills for this job, plus have plenty of stamina and patience, as those who work in the field of geriatric social work would tell you, there can be times where it's very trying and it can even be a thankless job, depending on the client. But in the end all that hard work will make you feel as though you're helping people and the community at large - and really giving back to society.

Physical Therapist

By pursuing a career as a physical therapist you will have a chance to work with all ages and make a difference in their lives. You will be helping patients to recover from injuries, reduce the pain they are in, and realize mobility again. This is a physically demanding job, as you are often on the floor doing stretches and moving about the room with the patient. This one definitely requires stamina on your part. If pay is a factor in choosing your future career, physical therapists tend to get paid fairly decent pay with an average yearly income of about $66,000.

A Guidance Counselor

Just the job title alone, a guidance counselor, tells you that this is a position where you will be helping those in need and doing some good in the world. As a guidance counsellor, you will be working with kids, most likely teenagers, helping them to discover their goals and lay out a path to achieve these goals. While you won't make the big bucks in this position, it will be rewarding in other ways. A guidance counselor is someone a student may remember for the rest of his or her life.

Special Education Teacher

Here's another position that allows you to give back, but this time you are working with students. As a special education teacher it is your job to help these students to achieve their goals, motivate them, and educate them. Again, this can be a very taxing job both physically and emotionally, but it also carries with it a lot of rewards.
