Grateful - Do Not Compare Yourself to Others!
Unfortunately most of us never sit to realise how good we have it. We get lost in the comparison game, putting our real lives side by side with other's social media feeds!
Comparison is the number ingredient for a discontent heart.
On the first day of school, we were so excited the girls were over the moon to go back to school to see their friends and meet their new teachers.
Like all mom who loves a good photo op, I had them hold their little first day of school sign, which was just a small dry erase board I scribble on!
I took my picture and I was proud of myself for remembering to do it and even had the time to do it and wasn't running late!
I drop them off ON TIME! it was a pretty good day I was on winning mommy mode, until 11am when I got on Facebook and everybody else's sign...
Suddenly I found myself looking down on myself, like I didn't do enough. These other moms must have worked on their sign weeks in advance. it's so crafty and cute mine is just an afterthought scribbles on a dry erase board I took from the fridge door.
See I was having a good day, I was proud of myself, I was happy feeling like a good mom, my kids are happy, they had brand new uniforms, they were fed, their lunch box is packed with healthy organic goodies. It was a successful first back to school day!
But my mind automatically went down to comparison land and I was feeling like crap. I had to literally slap myself out of it.
Our heart and mind doesn't often gravitate toward being grateful or seeing the goods in every situations we have to train ourselves to think that way.
It takes effort and determination to change our mindset which is why it so important to make it a point to be grateful on purpose.
